Be Still

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.” ~ Psalm 37:7

I do not need to see the news to know that there is chaos in the world. What else are we supposed to expect, when the Word of God itself told us this was going to happen?

God doesn’t want us to worry and stress about what is happening.
God wants us to be still, wait patiently for Him, and wait expectantly in faith for Him to move.

Our job is to pray, and to wait for God to move.

Today, just be still.
Don’t worry about what’s going on in the world.
Don’t worry about what’s going on in your life.
Don’t worry about what’s going on in your body.

It’s all going to be okay.
Just be still, and rest in God’s presence.
Rest in God’s promise that He has already won the victory.
Rest in the fact that Jesus has overcome the world.
Rest in the promise that God will take care of you.
Rest in the promise that God is moving right now.
Rest in the joy of the Lord, and trust Him to take care of what is going on around us.

Be still today, and give thanks that the vicory is already won!

Prioritizing to Prioritize

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be added to you.” ~ Matthew 6:33

What we choose to prioritize in our lives matter.
Depending on what your focus is, generally leads the direction of your life.
God wants us to prioritize what God prioritizes above everything else.

The most important thing to God is for the lost to come to Him.
God wants to save people from their sin!
God wants to save people from eternal sepperation from Him.
God wants to have fellowship with His children!

God also wants a relationship with those who are already saved from the path of destruction. God wants us to grow in Him!
God wants us to learn about who He is, who we are to Him, what we have through Jesus Christ, and how He wants us to live our lives so that we can have the best lives.

God’s priorities put us first.
God wants us to prioritize to put Him first.

When you prioritize to live for God above everything else, and reach the lost with His love, God will take care of everything else in your life.

Order In Chaos

Take a moment and try this experiment with me.
Find a string, and a few pens.
Tie the same string around the base of the four pens so that all of the pens are lined up and along the string, leaving enough room at the end of the string for you to hold on to. Proceed to let the string and pens all fall into a pile on the floor.
Now, when you pull one end of the string, notice how all of the pens follow and line up in the process?
You may be wondering, what does this experiment have to do with anything?

These pens represent the priorities in our life.
They can represent our relationships, our health, our jobs, or even our hobbies.
The string represents God.

Just like when you focused on getting the string into a straight line, in the process it lined up the pens as well, the same is true of the priorities in our life.

When we allow God to be tied to each area in our life, and we focus on putting Him first, the rest of the areas in our life will line up and fall in order.

No matter how chaotic your life may look right now, focus on putting God first!  Don’t worry about anything else.
In the midst of the chaos, when you put God first and put your focus on Him, everything else will fall into order.

Freedom To Serve

The Declaration of Independence was signed 241 years ago today, on July 4th 1776.
Today American’s celebrate 241 years of freedom to practice their religion,
bear arms, and speak freely along with other freedoms
that other countries citizens may not have to this day.
Living in the United States of America is a privilege,
and as we celebrate that privilege today,
I want to share a few thoughts found in the Word of God.

“Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil,
but living as servants of God.” ~ 1 Peter 2:16

It is amazing to me that many people will fight for their freedom to worship God,
and yet they do not practice that freedom they say they would die for.
Have we as Christians in the United States had this freedom of religion for so long, that we forgot what a privilege it is to be able to practice our beliefs freely?
Have we forgotten the struggle, and sacrifice of those that founded our countries constitution and fought for us to have our freedoms?

What would life be like today, if we no longer had the freedom to follow Jesus Christ openly in the United States?

Would your life change at all?

Today, as we celebrate Independence Day here in the United States,
reflect on your own freedom to live out your faith.

Give thanks for your freedom to be able to read your Bible.
Give thanks for your freedom to pray openly.
Give thanks for your freedom to serve God openly.
Give thanks for your freedom to praise God openly.
Give thanks for your freedom!

There is no better way to give thanks for a gift you have received than to actually use it.
Take advantage of your freedom to serve God, and if you haven’t yet, begin today!
