The Declaration of Independence was signed 241 years ago today, on July 4th 1776.
Today American’s celebrate 241 years of freedom to practice their religion,
bear arms, and speak freely along with other freedoms
that other countries citizens may not have to this day.
Living in the United States of America is a privilege,
and as we celebrate that privilege today,
I want to share a few thoughts found in the Word of God.

“Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil,
but living as servants of God.” ~ 1 Peter 2:16

It is amazing to me that many people will fight for their freedom to worship God,
and yet they do not practice that freedom they say they would die for.
Have we as Christians in the United States had this freedom of religion for so long, that we forgot what a privilege it is to be able to practice our beliefs freely?
Have we forgotten the struggle, and sacrifice of those that founded our countries constitution and fought for us to have our freedoms?

What would life be like today, if we no longer had the freedom to follow Jesus Christ openly in the United States?

Would your life change at all?

Today, as we celebrate Independence Day here in the United States,
reflect on your own freedom to live out your faith.

Give thanks for your freedom to be able to read your Bible.
Give thanks for your freedom to pray openly.
Give thanks for your freedom to serve God openly.
Give thanks for your freedom to praise God openly.
Give thanks for your freedom!

There is no better way to give thanks for a gift you have received than to actually use it.
Take advantage of your freedom to serve God, and if you haven’t yet, begin today!
